POTSDAM – Families are being invited to create a giant outdoor mural, sponsored by the North Country’s Children Museum.
The second part of the Community Coloring Book mural project will be led by the museum's arts educator Liza LaBarge Paige, who will design and outline the mural, coloring book style.
Families are invited to sign up through a link on the museum’s Facebook Page for a time slot to participate in a giant “paint-by-number” mural. This year’s theme is Underwater Exploration.
The Community Coloring Book project debuted last summer with local families creating a colorful mural on a wall adjacent to the museum. The mural provides a fun activity for families to do outside while fostering a sense of community and engagement, museum staff members say.
The exploration theme also sends the message that children should not be afraid to go out and explore, and that stepping out of one’s comfort zone is the best way of learning.
Over 20 families participated in last year’s Space Exploration mural over the course of a month.
