CANTON – A Bronx man now in federal custody who fled police following an attempted traffic stop and was later arrested by armed police officers at the Potsdam Walmart was indicted Thursday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury.
Taj Fisher, 31, was indicted on second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
It is alleged that on July 6, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Fisher on State Route 345, town of Waddington. Fisher failed to comply with deputies calling off the chase as Fisher’s vehicle entered the hamlet of Madrid.
Potsdam village police, later tracked down Fisher at Walmart and took him into custody in the store parking lot.
At the time of the arrest, police reported Fisher was in possession of 4.5 ounces of fentanyl, three ounces of cocaine, three boxes of glassine bags, digital scales, and $4,719 in cash.
