GOUVERNEUR – Two Gouverneur residenr was charged with drug possession twice in a four-hour span Aug. 23, according to Gouverneur police.
Dylan M. Stewart, 22, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic instrument and inadequate muffler, officers said.
He was found to be operating a Chevrolet Lumina on West Main Street with a loud exhaust, police said.
Officers said they observed a hypodermic needle sticking out of his right pants pocket.
A search of his person revealed a clear plastic bag with a white substance that was found in his left pants pocket, police said.
A passenger in the vehicle, Dezaray L. Weir, 20, Gouverneur, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, officers said.
She was found to be trying to push a clear plastic bag, with her feet, underneath the seat in front of her, officers said.
The clear plastic bag was found to contain a white narcotic substance.
About four hours later, Stewart and Weir, were passengers in a vehicle that was pulled over on Johnstontown Street.
The driver, Gerald G. Fries, 36, Gouverneur, was charged at 7:56 p.m. with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle without inspection certificate, police said.
Weir, 20, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
She was allegedly found in possession of a smoking pipe with white powder residue that tested positive for cocaine and a small baggie of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Stewart was charged with two counts of possession of hypodermic instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
All of the above subjects were cited and released on tickets returnable in court at a later date, officers said.
