GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur man was charged June 3 following a pistol permit application, according to village police.
Edward J. Measheaw Jr., 45, was charged at 1:25 p.m. that day for first-degree falsify business records and first-degree offering false instrument for filing, officers said.
The subject reportedly lied on a State of New York Pistol Revolver Application. Measheaw failed to disclose the date, police agency, charge and final disposition for seven arrests, police said.
Offices said he did this knowing that his pistol permit application would become filed with and become a part of the record of St. Lawrence County Clerkâs Office and that such pistol/revolver license application bears a legally authorized form notice to the effect that false statements made therein are punishable and signed and sworn before a public notary.
Measheaw was processed and released with appearance tickets to Canton Town Court.
