This year’s early voting location for St. Lawrence County has been moved to Clarkson Facilities Building, 42 Maple St., Potsdam.
St. Lawrence County Board of Elections officials said state election law mandates voting to take place in the township with the largest population, and that township is Potsdam.
Early voting hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 29; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 and 31.
Applications for absentee voting ballots must be received by mail, online portal, email or fax by Monday, Oct. 18, or in-person at the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections office at 80 St. Hwy. 310, Canton, by Nov. 1.
Again this year, concern of COVID allows “Temporary illness or disability” to be cited as a reason in applying for the absentee ballot.
Absentee ballots returned by mail need to be postmarked by Nov. 2 and received no later than Nov. 15. Absentee ballots can also be returned in person at the Board of Elections building by Oct. 31, or at your local pollsite on Election Day.
The Board of Election office is accepting absentee ballot returns on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., during the early voting schedule Oct. 23-31.
Absentee ballots can also be returned to your local pollsite on Election Day between 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and dropped off into the pink affidavit/absentee bag in an easily accessible area, without waiting in line.
