Dairy Princess Royalty Program returning; pageant June 11 in Waddington

Posted

The St. Lawrence County Dairy Promotion Committee recently conducted a survey of local consumers, dairy farmers, and agricultural industry members regarding the Dairy Princess Royalty Program. Last year, the American Dairy Association North East (ADANE) discontinued the Dairy Royalty Program and substituted a Dairy Ambassador Program. St. Lawrence County participated in the new program. After a year of following the new program, the committee decided to survey the public to determine if changes needed to be made.

Ninety-two of the community respondents supported returning to a modified unisex Royalty program open to everyone at all levels.

As a result of this survey and discussion, the committee will be returning to a Royalty program. It is the job of the dairy court to promote, and influence the public on the importance of dairy. The Crown and Sash grab people’s attention and make the court members approachable to all ages most especially to children.

The Committee is seeking new members. Any participants (ages 8-23) who are interested in promoting the dairy industry in St. Lawrence County are welcome to join the court. The Annual Banquet and Competition will be held on Sunday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at the Waddington Town Hall, Main Street.

If interested, please see the application posted on the St. Lawrence County Dairy Promotion FaceBook page. Feel free to contact Competition Coordinators.
