The Community Lunch Program for Kids has been collecting gently used shoes as a fundraiser for its program, which provides nutritious food to local children when school is not in session.

They have one month left in their shoe drive and have collected nearly 900 pairs of shoes.

“We are hoping to collect an additional 65 bags to earn $1,000 from Funds2Orgs,” said Wendy Chambers of Community Lunch Program for Kids Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville. “This $1,000 would allow us to provide over 2,000 meals to children dealing with food insecurity in the Norwood, Norfolk, Raymondville area. We hope that you will consider helping us help the kids by donating your gently used shoes.”

There are many collection sites in the Tri-town area that are accepting gently used shoes. They include Church of the Visitation-Norfolk, Congregational Church – Norwood, Common Cents Thrift Shop- Norwood, Norwood, Norfolk Central School- boxes by each building entrance, Norwood Methodist Church, Norwood Public Library, Norfolk Public Library, Norfolk Wesleyan Church, Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville post offices, Norwood American Legion, St. Andrew's Church- Norwood, St. Philip's Episcopal Church- Norwood, United Methodist Church – Norfolk and Wagner's Whistle Stop Thrift Shop/

“A huge thank you to all those who have agreed to let us use their building as a collection site, as well as those who have already donated so generously,” Chambers said. “It would be a gross understatement to say, ‘We couldn't do this without you’ …thank you, thank you, thank you,” she said.
