POTSDAM -- Clarkson University has received a $60,000 commitment from AECOM Technology Corporation in support of the Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program at Clarkson.
“We are particularly gratified by AECOM’s support of CEM since it builds on our existing academic alliance,” said Clarkson President Tony Collins. “CEM courses have been taught at Clarkson for more than 30 years, but we’ve seen a four-fold increase in students focusing on this area in the last five years.”
In response to that growing demand, Clarkson is expanding its CEM program, which addresses the design, planning, construction, and management of infrastructure such as highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, railroads, buildings, pipelines, dams, and utilities.
CEM students learn design aspects and construction project management, skills traditionally practiced by civil engineers and construction managers.
To assist with the program’s expansion, Clarkson has established a CEM advisory board consisting of industry partners to provide a forum for interaction between industry peers and Clarkson administrators and faculty to ensure an industry-relevant education for CEM students. With its support, AECOM becomes the inaugural member of the advisory board.
