OGDENSBURG - The city of Ogdensburg will host an open meet and greet tomorrow (Friday, March 10) to introduce new City Manager Mohideen Buharie to the community.

The meet and greet will be held at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center, 100 Riverside Ave., from 3-5 p.m.

Buharie was sworn in as Ogdensburg’s new city manager on Feb. 17.

The new manager has a masters of business administration and public administration and a degree in engineering.

Before coming to Ogdensburg, Buharie worked as an engineer for the City of Arcadia, California, since December 2010, where he led public development, restoration, and construction maintenance projects.

Buharie takes over the helm of the city from City Planner Andrea Smith, who was appointed interim city manager in November 2022 following the departure of former City Manager Stephen Jellie.

Jellie often made headlines for frequently being at loggerheads with city council members and city departments over what they felt were his aggressive cost cutting measures to help the debt riddled city regain some sense of fiscal solvency and health.
