CANTON – Members of the town board approved an amendment to the 2022-23 budget to accommodate for the recently allocated CHIPS, PAVE NY and Extreme Winter Recovery (EWR) funding from the New York state Department of Transportation.
The Town of Canton has the following funding amounts available for June payments:
CHIPS: $289,163.33; PAVE NY: $76.338.18; and EWR: $66,1206.49.
It was noted that these amounts are the same as last year’s allocation.
Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley also informed the board the town is expected to receive $50,891 in state Pave Our Potholes funding.
In April, Governor Kathy Hochul's unprecedented commitment of $32.8 billion in the state budget for restoring New York's roads and bridges, included $1 billion for the Operation Pave Our Potholes Program.
Ashley said the town has been notified but to date, nothing is official.
