North Country This Week
CANTON -- Canton Central School will soon be accepting bids to repair its pool.
“The pool filter has developed small, pinhole leaks,” according to CCS Superintendent Ronald P. Burke. “The proposed project calls for the filter to be replaced. “
It is also hoped that there will be enough money to replace the pool water heater, which Burke said “has extensive corrosion.” The school also hopes to install a containment area for the pool chlorine that will limit further corrosion in this area of the school basement, he said.
The district plans to use existing funds to pay for the repairs.
“We have money remaining from the last capital project,” Burke said.
Originally, this money was designated to reconfigure the elementary office, he said.
“However, when the leaks were discovered, the Board agreed with our assessment that this repair was a greater priority,” Burke said.
Bids will be opened on the project this week with the board holding a special meeting July 23 to award the contract.
