Wind and snow should give way to sunshine tomorrow

Today's winds and snow showers should give way to partly sunny skies Thursday in the St. Lawrence Valley and the Adirondacks, according to the National Weather Service.

The gusty wind and occasional snow showers today have been pushed by a mass of Arctic air moving south from central Ontario. With the snow accumulations we have, the gusty winds will mean some drifting and some areas of blowing snow making for low visibility.

To our west, lake effect snows continue in Jefferson and Lewis counties.

The Weather Service believes that flurries and light snow showers will be the rule in the St. Lawrence Valley and the Adirondacks over the next couple of days with temperatures a little below average.

The current predictions for low temperatures tonight are about 3 degrees, and lower toward the mountains, but the Weather Service says if the skies tonight clear more than they have expected, they could be lower yet.

There is a good chance we will see some sun Thursday, with highs reaching 15 degrees. The chance of snow increases Thursday night into Friday, with lows around 5 and the high Friday around 22, with gusty winds. As usual, lower temperatures are expected in higher elevations.

Snow could be more prevalent this weekend, with the highest chance on Sunday into Monday, and again Monday night into Tuesday.

Temperatures over the weekend and into Tuesday will generally range in the 20s during daytimes and single digits at night.
