BRASHER FALLS -- St. Lawrence County has a second connection to the NHL’s 2020 Stanley Cup champions.
A Brasher Falls native who is a coach for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning is now a Stanley Cup winner.
Derek Lalonde, formerly of Brasher Falls, is an assistant coach with the team. He signed with the Lightning in July of 2018.
“The Town of Brasher and the North Country’s Tri-Town area is very proud of Derek Lalonde Assistant Coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning for his team’s victory in winning (the) Stanley Cup last night,” said Mark Peets, town supervisor.
The area’s other connection to the team is Massena native Zach Bogosian, a defensemen. For more, see story here.
