Brasher Falls man indicted by SLC grand jury after allegedly fleeing police

CANTON – A Brasher Falls man accused of fleeing police following a traffic stop in the Town of Potsdam and placing law enforcement personnel in danger was indicted on numerous charges Thursday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury.

Michael A. Peterson, 34, 755 County Route 49, was indicted on three counts of attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing and reckless driving.

It is alleged that on Jan. 23 Peterson, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., refused to stop, forcing police, including sheriff’s deputies, including Potsdam village police, to disable the vehicle a short time later.

In other grand jury action:

Shane M. Dishaw, 44, of 751 Hammill Road, Massena, was indicted on first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree strangulation, and endangering the welfare of a child.

It is alleged that on Feb. 11 in the Town of Massena, Dishaw violated a court order of protection by choking a person whose protection order was issued.

Taylor Lynn Teriele, 29, of 1202 Washington St., Ogdensburg, was indicted for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs.

It is alleged Teriele was operating a motor vehicle on April 13, 2022 in the Town of Morristown under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was allegedly found to be in possession of more than one half ounce of methamphetamine.

It was also noted that Teriele has a prior felony conviction having been convicted of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance on Oct. 17, 2017 in St. Lawrence County Court.

Julia L. LaRock, 58, of 2705 County Route 49, Winthrop, was indicted for second-degree forgery. It is alleged that on Oct. 19 in the Town of Massena, LaRock defrauded or deceived by altering a written instrument or credit card.
