North Country This Week

CANTON – American Pickers wants to make a return trip to the North Country. The show’s producer recently contacted the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to help them initiate a search for prospective clients.

“I am reaching out because our show is planning to return to New York this August 2022,” said producer Jasmina Joseph in an email to the County Chamber. “We’re looking for leads throughout the state, specifically interesting characters with fascinating items and lots of them. The way we find people and collections for our show is through spreading the word far and wide so that people know we’re coming to town.”

Citing COVID-19, Joseph said the show takes the pandemic seriously and notes all state guidelines and protocol for safe filming are followed.

“However, we are incredibly excited to continue connecting with the many collectors in the area to discuss their years of picking,” she said. “If you feel it appropriate, we really hope you can help us let the people in your backyards know how eager we are to hear their stories.”

Local collectors interested in being considered for American Pickers should contact them by phone at (646) 493-2184; on Facebook @GotAPick, or by email at AmericanPickers@cineflix.com . Be sure to include your full name, city and state, contact information, and describe unusual and unique items; hopefully something the show has never seen before.

The show’s co-stars Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz did make a visit to the Hartman residence in Rensselaer Falls in May 2019. The collection was owned by the late Kyle “Fireball” Hartman who had tried for years to bring the show to the North Country. He passed away March 13, 2019 just a few months before the American Pickers visit.

Kyle’s son David Hartman appeared on the show that aired Nov. 11, 2019 on the History Channel.
