First-year student Kelly Legg recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds as the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team defeated the Clarkson University, 60-39, on Tuesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Saints improve to 16-4 and 7-3 in the Liberty League, while the Golden Knights fall to 5-15 overall with a 2-8 mark in the conference.

Legg was 7-of-12 from the floor and recorded three blocks, while juniors Iris Santoni and Casey Capello each gathered eight points. Carey Turner led Clarkson with 11 points and 14 rebounds and Chrissy Scanlon tallied 10 points.

Neither the Saints nor the Golden Knights shot particularly well in the first half as St. Lawrence shot just 30.0 percent from the floor (9-for-30) and Clarkson shot only 17.1 percent (6-for-35). Legg and sophomore Erica Spera put pressure on the Golden Knights in the interior as they combined for six blocked shots in the contest. The Saints entered halftime with a 22-16 edge.

In the second half, St. Lawrence came out with renewed enthusiasm, running out to a 17-2 run with an 11-1 rebound edge in the first seven minutes of the last period. Clarkson had no answer on offense or defense as the Saints closed out the game with a 60-39 edge.

The Saints will host conference opponent Hamilton this Friday, February 11. Tip-off is slated for 6:00pm in the Burkman Gymnasium.
