Junior Sean Scott scored 4:56 into the second overtime as St. Lawrence University's men's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to a dozen games with a 2-1 win at Plattsburgh State Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints, ranked fifth in the East region by the National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association edged the 7th-ranked Cardinals in a key non-league matchup for both teams. The Saints have gone 9-0-2 since a early September loss at Geneseo and face a big Liberty League weekend set at Hobart and Hamilton on Saturday and Sunday.

Plattsburgh grabbed the early lead in Wednesday's game as Jared Antonucci scored from Matt Martin with 17:25 to play in regulation, but the Saints countered as Scott and Dan Marvin set up junior Brendan Gorman for Gorman's fifth goal in the last seven games to tie the game with 3:26 to go in regulation time.Gorman was named ECAC Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-0-1 week for the Saints last week. Scott started the tying play with a corner kick to Marvin at the far post and Marvin relayed the ball to Gorman for the goal.

"We were down late, so we changed our system and were able to tie it up," said Saint coach Bob Durocher. "Once we were back on even ground, we went back to our normal game and were able to win it in overtime,"

"We gambled a bit, but Nate (Goss-Woliner) made a couple of pro saves and we were able to pull it out," Durocher added."Shaka Pilgrim turned in a great game for us off the bench, both offensively and defensively. This was a real good one to have."

The two teams then battled through a scoreless first 10-minute overtime period before Sam DeMello and Gorman set up Scott for the game winner at 104:56 as the Saints improve to 11-2-2 on the season. Plattsburgh fell to 11-4-1 on the season with the loss.

Scott's goal was his fifth of the season and his third game winning goal."Sam DeMello somehow threaded the ball through three defenders to Brendan Gorman who and took a shot from the near post to the far post. Sean was all alone about eight yards out at the far post and tapped it in," Durocher explained.

Saint goalie Nate Goss-Woliner made four saves to improve his record to 9-1-1 on the season while Plattsburgh goalkeeper Andy Heightington stopped five Saint shots.

SLU outshot Plattsburgh 19-13 overall and had a 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
