The St. Lawrence University women's second varsity and novice four earned first place finishes on Saturday on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, NY. The Saints 1V posted a second place finish, beating out conference opponent Skidmore College, but falling to the Ithaca, which ranks second in the nation.
The Saints 2V negotiated the 2000 meter course in 7:06.70, while Ithaca's 2V came in seconds behind at 7:08.80. The Bombers' 3V finished last at 7:55.20. The eight was coxed by Kelly Greenwood '13 and stroked by Alie Mihuta '14. Amanda Brewer '12, Alyssa Goley '14, Kait Murphy '14, Sally Dankner '13, Liz Weber '12, Catie LePage '11, and Anna Lavanger '14 also powered the eight.
Ithaca defeated the Saints 1V by two lengths of open water finishing in 6:47.50, while the Saints 1V finished in 6:56.50. Skidmore came in third with a time of 7:09.80. The eight was coxed by Lauren Reed '11 and stroked by Lizzy Stokes-Cawley '11. Also racing for the Saints were Jesse Burdett '13, Maddy Fones '13, Britton Weber '13, Maggie Fellows '13, Jeannine Condon '12, Alissa McCaffrey '13 and Bri Tidd '12.
The women's novice four beat out Ithaca with open water, finishing in 8:14.60 while Ithaca came in at 8:25.00. Tori Vossler '14 coxed the four while Maggie Wiener '11 stroked. Abbie McIvor '14, Jenette Kloss '14 and Britne Tyler '11 also raced for the Saints.
St. Lawrence will compete against Hamilton in Rome, NY on Saturday, April 16th.
