The St. Lawrence University men's and women's alpine ski teams competed in the giant slalom on Friday at the 2011 UVM Carnival at Mt. Mansfield. Sophomore Ann West led the women's team to a sixth place showing overall, while the rookie duo of Dustin Martin and Ben DeFlavio paced the men's squad.

West posted St. Lawrence's top finish on Friday, landing in 21st overall with a total time of 2:10.63 in the women's GS. The trio combined for 66.0 points in the carnival standings to take sixth place.

Junior Elena Rogers finished in 40th place overall, while rookie Hayley Best (DNF 1st) and sophomore Ashley-Kate Durham (DNF 2nd) also competed for the Scarlet and Brown.

Meanwhile, Martin and DeFlavio tied for 30th place in the men's GS with identical times of 2:07.25. The pairing was joined by junior Scott Houser in the scoring, as the Marblehead, MA native capped the team's scoring with a 33rd place finish.

First-year student Nick Scalia (36th), senior Thatcher Jacques (42nd) and junior Matt Dodge (44th) also represented St. Lawrence in the men's giant slalom.
