(Canton, N.Y.) - The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team sent seniors Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.), Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) and Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) out in style as they routed the University of Rochester 13-0 on "Senior Night" at the Canton Pavilion on Saturday.

Merrow made 25 saves for the shutout in his final game at the Pavilion and Cook and Rosenbaum each scored a goal in their home finales. The three graduating players were honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the third period. All three players have been instrumental in helping the Roos win back-to-back ECHL regular season titles.

The Roos, who had already clinched the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League regular season championship, end the regular season at 10-2 in the league and 24-8 overall. They’ll be the top seed in the ECHL tournament February 25-27 at the Genesee Valley Ice Rink in Rochester before heading to the ACHA Division I national tournament March 5-9 in Newark, Delaware.

SUNY Canton pounded in five goals in the first and second periods and three more in the third to earn the season sweep of the Yellowjackets. The Roos also beat Rochester 10-4 on Oct. 9 in Rochester.

Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) posted a five-point night with three goals and two assists for the Roos who had nine different players score at least one goal.

John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.), who scored the game-winning goal in Friday night’s 3-1 win over Syracuse, added two goals and two assists for the Roos.

Eric Richard (St. Hubert, Quebec) also scored twice for SUNY Canton. Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.), Chris Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.), Cory Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.), Corey Spuck (Rochester, N.Y.), and Carson Benggio (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) each scored once, and Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) contributed two assists.
