(Canton, N.Y.)- Shane Powell (Yonkers, N.Y.) of the men’s soccer team has been named an All-American honorable mention by the USCAA for his performance this season.
As a freshman, Powell was an explosive presence up front for the Roos, playing in all 21 games on the year. He tallied nine goals and two assists for a team-leading 20 points, including 50 shots and four game-winning scores.
Powell’s first collegiate goal came in a 6-0 Roos win over Vermont Technical College on September 24. He finished the day with a hat-trick, netting three goals on four shots for his first of two multi-goal games of the season.
A young team, the Roos finished 11-7-3 in 2011, and will undoubtedly look to Powell and his classmates for veteran experience and leadership in 2012.
