Canton, NY - Freshman Aishvina Arasu (Brea, CA) struck for 17 kills as the Clarkson University Volleyball team swept St. Lawrence in three sets to clinch a spot in the Liberty League Tournament, 25-20, 25-13, 25-20, Tuesday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 20-4 overall, their sixth straight season with at least 20 victories, and 8-1 in the Liberty League, while St. Lawrence dropped to 7-20 and 2-7. Clarkson joins Vassar and Skidmore as teams that have gained admittance to the conference tournament. The Golden Knights will close out the conference regular season this weekend against RIT, Union and Skidmore.

Arasu had 17 kills and 16 digs to record a double-double for the Knights, while Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO) added in eight kills with only one error in 22 swings. Freshman Kirstie Shurie (LaCanada, CA) produced 29 assists, while the Clarkson defense was able to deny St. Lawrence's hitters with 74 total digs. Erika Chin (Katy, TX) led the team with 23 digs, while Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) added 13 digs and Kristen Orlandini (Fairport, NY) came through with 10 digs. Clarkson also had six blocks, with Adrienne and Bailey Walker (Centennial, CO) each contributing three block assists.

"A game against St. Lawrence is always special and brings up a special kind of energy," head coach Johan Dulfer said. "I thought both teams played hard today and I wasn't particularly happy with how we started off. But as the match progressed, we stepped up our assertiveness and played with a lot more purpose. By the second set, I thought we played very well and really kept the pressure on offensively. Any win in Canton is a great win and I'm happy that we pulled out a good victory."
