Williamstown, MA - Senior forward Jonathan Hood (Cortlandt Manor, NY) came within a rebound of a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds, but his effort wasn't enough to propel the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team past Elms College as the Golden Knights fell 73-61 at the Williams Tournament Sunday evening.

The Golden Knights fell to 6-3 overall and will look to even their record at the tournament on Monday when they take on Westfield State. Elms moved to 6-3 with the victory.

Clarkson fell behind 10-1 in the first two and a half minutes and trailed for the majority of the first half, falling behind by as many as 14 points midway through the period. However, a 3-pointer from Rey Jefferson (Budd Lake, NJ) in the final minute completed a first-half comeback, giving the Knights their only lead of the ball game. The first half ended in a 32-32 tie.

In the second half, Elms quickly regained the advantage, but the Blazers couldn't keep the Knights from coming back once again as the score was tied at 50-50 with 9:58 to go. Unfortunately for Clarkson, the Blazers finished the game with a 23-11 advantage and never looked back, holding off all of the Knights' late charges.

Hood led all scorers with 17 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Jefferson added 14 points, while Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) contributed 12 points. Freshman Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) also added 10 points. Clarkson shot just 34 percent from the floor, making eight 3-point field goal attempts.

Cecil Avant led Elms with 16 points, making four 3-point field goals in just five attempts. Juan Alverio tossed in 14 points, and Bryant Corcorcan added in eight points and 10 rebounds.
