Potsdam, NY – Junior Abby Collins surpassed the 100-point mark for her career in style on Friday, posting a career-best seven points in the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team's 15-10 victory over Skidmore College at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore fell to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in conference games. Clarkson will celebrate its six seniors on Saturday when the team takes on Union College in the final regular-season home game of 2019.

Wet conditions made for troublesome ball control in the early going, but Skidmore gained a 2-0 lead in the early going on goals scored just 21 seconds apart. However, the Knights quickly recovered and took the lead, with freshman Mia Petrone having a hand in all three, scoring twice and assisting on the third. A few minutes later, Abby Collins assisted on an Aubrey Borgesi goal and then scored one of her own to give the Knights a 5-2 lead and forcing Skidmore to take a timeout. Although the Thoroughbreds stopped the five goal run, but Clarkson picked things up once again with Abby Collins scoring three times in a stretch of eight minutes to put the Knights up 9-3.

Skidmore ended the half with a three-goal spurt that reduced the deficit to just three at the break, but the Knights all but put the game away at the start of the second with a strong overall defensive effort. Clarkson picked up goals from Katie Sergeant and Sydney Roderick in the first eight minutes of the half, but the key was limiting Skidmore's offense. The Thoroughbreds scored just once in the first 20 minutes of the second half as the Knights built their lead to seven, doubling up Skidmore 14-7 with less than 10 minutes to go. Even when Skidmore did score at the 9:18 mark, the visitors were unable to produce another tally until there was less than three minutes to go.

Samantha Gladd was at the center of that effort, stopping 14 shots in the Clarkson crease. Amanda Ellman, Cayleen Murphy and Sydney Roderick also each caused three turnovers. Abby Collins finished with seven points on four goals and three assists and Roderick picked up four more points with a goal and three assists. Petrone tacked on three points and four draw controls while Sergeant, Borgesi and Lexi Smith each added two goals.

For Skidmore, Cas Szwajkowski scored five points on four goals and an assist while also adding in five draw controls. Emily Hirsch scored twice and picked up eight draws, and Amanda Orvis scored a goal, scooped up four groundballs, and caused two turnovers. Natalie LaBeau also produced four groundballs and caused three turnovers.
