Plattsburgh, NY - A single score separated the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team and regional-power Plattsburgh State for the first time since the 2002 season, but the Golden Knights losing streak against the Cardinals continued as the Green and Gold fell 1-0 Wednesday night.
The Golden Knights, winless in their last six contests, fell to 6-7-2 overall, and will close out the regular season on Saturday against St. Lawrence University. Plattsburgh improved to 13-4-1 overall.
The two teams played a scoreless match until the 54th minute, when Chris Taylor scored his fourth goal of the season, with the assist going to Matt Hamilton. Despite a few more chances for the Knights, it was all Plattsburgh would need to hold on for the victory.
Saverino Spagnolo (Ottawa, ONT) made four saves for the Knights in the loss. Plattsburgh had a 15-5 edge in shots and led in corner kicks 9-4.
