To the Editor:

I would like to urge everyone to join me in voting for St. Lawrence County Legislator Rita Curran who has been a strong supporter for Waddington, Louisville, and Massena.

I have known Rita since we were youngsters and I have personally seen what a wonderful person she is. When Rita ran for office four years ago, she promised to help address the problems facing families with loved ones addicted to drugs.

When she started serving in office, she supported the creation of a special task force that brought together people and a variety of local, county and state agencies who studied the problem to find new, innovative ways the county could help reduce the problems we are seeing in our communities.

She served as the county legislature’s representative on the task force to bring back its recommendations to the full board.

Thanks to her efforts and the efforts of the rest of the task force, the county legislature agreed to create a methadone program that is helping drug addicts.

We need experienced medical professionals like Rita Curran who are willing to tackle the rising problems posed by dangerous drugs like fentanyl and heroin in our community.

Rita Curran cares about the people she represents. She is a tireless worker who has stood up to hold the line on taxes while bringing common sense to the government. Join me in voting for Rita this November.
