Most people today realize that something is very wrong with our current administration. We have a president who erected a huge fence in front of the White House and who considers using the military against our citizenry. That scenario in any day and age would suggest a nation weakened by corruption and poor leadership. Fortunately, our military leaders have spoken up and opposed that move.
A president doesn’t get to that level of power and estrangement without support, and Elise Stefanik, is one of Trump’s most avid supporters. In return for her loyalty, Trump has rewarded her with attention in tweets and appointments.
Though Stefanik has sponsored initiatives to increase funding and programming for our region, her voting record provides clues as to what is most important to her. She voted against establishing a select investigative subcommittee on the coronavirus crisis. She voted against a bill to amend the regulations related to safety, sale, and advertisement of tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes. She voted no on protecting America’s wilderness, protecting the right to organize, restoring tax fairness for states and localities and lowering drug costs. She repeatedly votes to take away health insurance for thousands and remove protections for pre-existing conditions. Her primary support comes from big business and private conservative interests.
Tedra Cobb is positive, open, and congenial. Tedra listens. She has spoken out against the current administration with cogent arguments and identifies changes that are needed.
Our representative at the federal level should be someone who listens to her constituents, protects the rights guaranteed us by the US Constitution, researches the issues, has governmental experience, knows how to create policy, proposes necessary changes for the good of all, and acts.
It is beyond the time for change. Let’s give Tedra Cobb a chance to work for us!
