To the Editor:

This Nov. 2, you will be voting for a new highway superintendent.

My name is Ted Elk and am asking you for your vote.

The highway superintendent position should not be about popularity. The town’s highways, roads and bridges should be cared for and supervised by a qualified individual. I owned my own small business, and am retired from NY State Parks and recently from Fort Drum PW.

I will bring my experience with roads, buildings and maintenance, equipment repair, truck driving, paperwork, and dealing with the public. I presently sit on the school board, the Hammond Museum and paddle for a purpose giving back to the community.

If elected, I will bring better communication between the town board which will creates a better work environment and a better understanding of day-to-day operations. Looking at all areas of the existing operations to implement cost savings measures will allow more money to be allocated to road maintains. I am qualified to manage a team of very qualified employees and provide the leadership needed to accomplish any road maintenance concerns.

I have worked as a laborer up to an operator's position and being a small business owner has provided me with a unique perspective of a business structure.

I possesses a CDL Class A driver’s license which would allow me to fill in as needed when employees are sick,.I can operate any piece of equipment the town owns.

If elected I am committed to providing excellent services to taxpayers while working on a set budget.

Candidate for Hammond
