To the Editor:
In her several terms as a Congresswoman, Elise Stefanik has shown that she is neither a textbook republican or textbook democrat, but that she is an exceptional North country representative which is an amalgamation of the two parties.
This is demonstrated in a recent legislation that she co sponsored. The Emergency Rural Community Relief Act, allows the USDA to set aside grant money that eligible rural communities can access in times of need.
This money can be used to purchase essential farming equipment, allow low income rural families to purchase nutritious meals, as well as allow Veterans the most expedited care. This bill would be considered Republican legislation but it aids people that the ‘Grand Old Party’ usually represents: farmers, military, and families.
The truth is our country is not as red and blue the news on either side of the political spectrum portrays to be.
People living in rural North Country communities are a patchwork of different beliefs. That is who Congresswoman Elise Stefanik represents, and she understands this; that is why she should be re-elected.
