To the Editor:
On April 7, Massena Public Library will participate in the Library Giving Day. This national event, occurring during National Library Week, is an appeal to our communities to recognize the value of and help support their local libraries.
Massena Public Library has continued to support our community through this year of crisis. We have implemented a popular curbside service that allows patrons to check out books, talking books, magazines, DVD’s and pick up children’s craft bags. Our EBook and audiobook checkouts have increased substantially over the last twelve months. We’ve met our community’s needs by continuing our photocopy, fax and notary services. We’ve also transitioned all our children’s, teens and adult programs to online events that continue to be well attended.
The financial impact of the virus has impacted our library greatly. Due to budget cuts, the library has had to reduce spending on all aspects of our services. I am reaching out to our community to help our library continue to serve our community by making a donation. All donations collected in support of our Library Day of Giving will be used to purchase books for our children’s, teens and adult collections.
Massena Public Library is proud of the services and collections we provide our community through both good times and times of crisis. Please consider joining with your neighbors and making a contribution to our library in support of this essential appeal.
