To the Sound Off writer of “Stop Duplication” (April 18-24), may I ask, what makes you an expert on how to run a town or village?
Have you ever served on any town or village board? There is more to it than “holding the chair.” There are laws, rules and regulations boards must abide by, and they cannot just do whatever they want and disregard them.
As for your comments about Canton’s mayor, he is a well-respected business owner. It doesn’t matter what kind of business he owns. He loves Canton. He grew up there, has a business there, raised his family there, and now has grandchildren there. His being mayor is the best thing that could happen, because he truly cares about Canton and the people that call it home.
If you have a concern, I’m sure he would be happy to discuss it with you, and would welcome you to voice your questions or concerns at a board meeting. Everyone that presently sits on the village board is a respected member of the community and, I reiterate, have the best interest of Canton and it’s citizens at heart.
In closing, I respectfully say, the next time you have a concern and feel the need to write to a paper about it, at least have the decency to sign your name.
Karen Cook, Canton
