The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund exists in our community to support local hospitals and organizations that provide programming dedicated to the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.
Currently funded groups include the Center for Cancer Care at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Gouverneur Hospital, Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, Richard Winter Cancer Treatment Center and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ryan’s Wish and the Lodge at Dreaming Tree Ranch. Through an application process, these organizations are awarded grants each year in support of their efforts to fight cancer in St. Lawrence County.
For more than 40 years, the Edward I. Moses Walk/Run for Life has been the primary fundraiser for the St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund.
Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak and guidelines set forth by federal and state governments, as well as the Department of Health for social distancing, we feel it is in the best interest of our participants and the community to postpone our event scheduled for Sunday, April 26. This was an extremely difficult decision to make and it was not made lightly, however, the safety of everyone involved is our main concern.
As our many dedicated participants know, we come together each year with the common goal of raising much-needed funds for programs and services in our community. This need has not changed and we are working with our wonderful host, St. Lawrence University to secure a date later in the year if at all possible.
We will be in touch via our website www.walkrunforlife.com and Facebook page, local media and mail when we reschedule.
Please be sure to stay safe during this difficult time and refer to our website for any support we can provide if you are encountering cancer.
Thank you for your dedicated participation and we look forward to continuing the fight against cancer with you very soon.
