To the Editor:
Gavin Regan has proven himself to be an effective County Clerk in the eight months he has held the office. He has increased revenues and reduced costs, has increased the number of NY City car dealerships served by our county’s Department of Motor Vehicles, and is sharing services with the Real Property Office. He’s taken a good county department and made it function even better.
Regan’s past experience in banking and finance brings a fresh, businesslike approach to the County Clerk’s office. He uses cost analysis to find out just how much it costs to offer services, and to look for ways to save taxpayer dollars. As an example, he has instituted electronic billing, which both saves a lot of money in time, paper and postage, and provides better service to the office’s customers. He’ll continue to put better technology to work to improve service and save money.
The best reason to support Gavin Regan is that his staff like what he is doing and like working for him. These are all people hired by his predecessors, and they work side by side with him now. They know the business of the County Clerk department better than anyone, and if he wasn’t doing an excellent job, they would be telling us so. Instead, what they are saying is “He’s the best of the four County Clerks I’ve worked for”.
I will be proud to cast my vote for Gavin Regan for St. Lawrence County Clerk on November 8, and sincerely hope that a majority of my fellow voters join me.
