To the Editor:
Had the January 6 Capitol protestors been Antifa-BLM activists, they would have been hailed by Democratic Party politicians and journalists as the People Taking Back the People's House. Leftist talk-show hosts would have gushed over them and idolized them in interviews. Ashli Babbitt would have been buried in a gold-plated coffin, and her funeral would have been televised. The Capitol Police officer who shot and killed her would have gone on trial for murder, and had he not been convicted, the cities of America would have been looted and set ablaze. Democratic lawmakers would have demanded that the Capitol Police be defunded. And there would now be a Wikipedia page titled "The Murder of Ashli Babbitt," detailing how a police officer shot to death an unarmed protestor.
The writer of a recent letter to NCN titled "FBI is busy behind the scenes, claims Massena resident" asserts that the "'darknet'...is where...extremist militant groups organize...and illicit fraudulent activity is perpetuated." But the looters, arsonists and killers who burned the cities of America during the summer of 2020, and the gangs that are now looting California--one of whose members during a recent robbery "offed a pig," as left-wing activists would refer to this killing of a retired police officer working as a security guard--have no need to hide on the darknet. They use conventional social media nonchalantly, secure in the knowledge that they will not be investigated; or if investigated, not prosecuted; or if prosecuted, not convicted.
The left has historically seen criminals not as such, but as victims of an inequitable society whose crimes are actually revolutionary deeds. The thief is taking something that has been unjustly denied him, as is the violator; the murderer is ridding the world of those "pigs" and others who defend the inequitable status quo and prevent the realization of a just world.
In his famed Revolutionary Catechism, Russian anarchist Sergey Nechayev presciently expressed the creed of today's social justice warriors: "The revolutionary...has broken all the bonds which tie him to the social order and the civilized world with all its laws, moralities, and customs...[He] enters the world...of the privileged classes, of so-called civilization...only for the purpose of bringing about its speedy and total destruction...Let us unite with the bold robber-gangs, the only real revolutionaries..."
