POTSDAM – Sharon Vegh Williams, executive director of the North Country Children’s Museum, received a Fulbright Specialist award.

Williams completed a two-week project at an interactive science museum in North Africa. She worked as a museum consultant with the education team at the Science Palace in Monastir, Tunisia to enhance their children’s exhibits and programs.

This Fulbright project established a partnership benefitting participants, institutions, and communities in both the North Country and Tunisia through a variety of educational and training activities.

Williams is one of over 400 US citizens each year who share expertise with a host institution abroad through the Fulbright Specialist Program. Recipients of Fulbright Specialist awards are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, demonstrated leadership in the field, and their potential to foster long-term cooperation between institutions in the US and abroad.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the US government and is designed to build lasting connections between the people of the US and people of other countries.

Williams will continue to consult with the educators at the Science Palace in Tunisia and has also developed hands-on activities to share Tunisian culture at the North Country Children’s Museum.
