MADRID — Madrid-Waddington Central School has recognized the 2023 class leaders.

Students who have achieved the designation of Summa Cum Laude- “highest distinction.” The students have earned a grade point average of 95 or better.

Molly Bogart is the daughter of Patty and Toby Bogart. Molly will attend Gettysburg College in the fall to study History and Public History.

Caeleigh Burke is the daughter of Eric and Michelle Burke. Caeleigh plans on attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall and majoring in Architecture.  

Sarah Fitzgerald is the daughter of Michele and Leo Fitzgerald. Sarah will attend SUNY Potsdam in the fall and major in Psychology.

Olivia Grandy is the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy Grandy. Olivia is attending St. Lawrence University in the fall. Olivia was awarded the Augsbury North Country Scholar Award and has been recognized as a Scholar/Athlete.  

Shelby Milburn is the daughter of Jennifer and the late David Milburn. Shelby will be entering the United States Air Force upon graduation. She will train to become an Air Traffic Controller.

Natalia Pearson is the daughter of Amanda (Eric) Newton and Michael

(Kelsey) Pearson. Natalia will attend SUNY Potsdam majoring in Art with future plans on becoming an Art Teacher.  

Grace Plumley is the daughter of Robin Plumley and Nicole Thompson. Grace will attend SUNY Canton in the fall as a women’s basketball recruit and has been accepted into the Nursing Bachelors in Science program.

Lane Ruddy is the daughter of Mike and Karen Ruddy. Lane will be attending SUNY Canton in the fall majoring in Applied Psychology with plans to pursue a master’s in Occupational Therapy.

Students who have achieved the designation of Magna Cum Laude- “with great distinction.” The students have earned a grade point average of 93 or better.

Alaina Armstrong is the daughter of Todd and Danielle Armstrong. Alaina plans on attending Clarkson University in the fall. Alaina will major in Psychology, with plans to pursue a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy and play Women’s Softball.

Alexis Cole is the daughter of ictoria and Jeff Burns. Alexis plans on attending SUNY Plattsburgh, majoring in Speech Pathology. She has been awarded the North Country scholarship from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Isabella Grant is the daughter of Charlie and Chris Grant. Isabella has enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Ava Rutherford is the daughter of Matt and Leslie Rutherford. Ava will attend Manhattanville College where she will earn a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theater.

Students who have achieved the designation of Cum Laude “with distinction.” The students have earned a grade point average of 90 or better.

Hailee Blair is the daughter of Jason and Shelly Blair. Hailee plans on attending Elegance College of Healthcare Services and Cosmetology in hopes to own her own business in Esthetics.

Emma Dawley is the daughter of Tammy Rupert and Michael Dawley. She is going to attend SUNY Potsdam in the fall, majoring in Anthropology.

Reese Fuller Reese is the daughter of Krista and Jesse Fuller. She plans on attending SUNY Canton in the fall and will pursue a degree in Nursing and plans on playing Volleyball.

Noah Haenel, is the son of Shelly Odendahl and Dustin Haenel. Noah plans on pursuing a college degree in Civil Engineering Technologies at SUNY Canton with plans to transfer to Clarkson University.

Tori Keegan is the daughter of Michael and Marcy Keegan and will attend SUNY Potsdam in the fall, majoring in Adolescent Education and English. She has participated in Chorus, Select Chorus, History Club and Key Club.  

Silas Kent is the son of Megan Lane and Daniel Kent. Silas will attend Gallatin College in Montana for a two-year program in HVAC and plans on starting his own company.

Ella Kitzman is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Kitzman. She will attend Ithaca College in the fall and major in Exercise Science/ Athletic Training. 

Robert Pemberton is the son of Joseph and Karen Pemberton. Robert will attend Clarkson University in the fall, majoring in Civil Engineering. He has been awarded Clarkson merit based scholarship for his excellent academic record.

Matthew Reed is the son of Benjamin and Jennifer Reed. Matthew will be attending SUNY Potsdam with an undeclared major.

Tanner Smith is the son of Melissia Madlin and Alex Smith. Tanner has been accepted into Southeast Lineman Training Center in Georgia for the Electrical Lineworker program.

Lacey Sullivan is the daughter of Jennifer and Michael Sullivan. She will be attending SUNY Canton in the fall and plans to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Veterinary Technology.
