Agnes Emma Blandin Woodrow will be turning 100 years old on Saturday, Jan. 8. Agnes was born Jan. 8 1922. Her parents were Fredrick Perle Blandin and Ethel Euphemia Baxter Blandin.
Her father was born in 1896 and died 1981 at age 85. Her mother was born 1893 and died in 1996, six weeks short of 103.
Agnes has lived in St Lawrence County all her life. She and her husband ran a farm for many years in the Hermon area. They sold their farm in 1970 then built a small home on Marshville Road in Hermon.
From 1974 to 1982, she owned and operated the Hermon IGA store, she was also a 50-plus-year member of the Hermon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. During the ice storm of 1997, she help the fire department feed the community. She was also a mail carrier for many years and retired in 1993.
Agnes lost her husband in 2007. She lived alone in her own home for 10 years with her granddaughter Abby Woodrow-Bonno in 2017. She moved in with her daughter Karen Woodrow Pike and her husband Francis Pike.
Agnes’s family is holding a birthday party for her at the Hermon Fire Station on Saturday, Jan. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
