The Outstanding Impact by an Individual in Higher Education award is given by Quality Matters (QM), the international leader for quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments. Blauvelt is the sole award recipient in this category, which is part of QM’s Making a Difference for Students awards program. Quality Matters recognizes educators in its community for superior work in quality assurance at their institutions.

Blauvelt is recognized for her extraordinary efforts in quality assurance at Clarkson University, expressed through the design of a six-week workshop for faculty rooted in the Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric. Through her efforts in this workshop, the institution has seen major improvements in faculty understanding of core principles of course design as well as student interest and engagement.

Blauvelt is quick to credit Clarkson’s Teaching and Learning Corner team, Loretta Driskel and Laura Perry, along with others who have supported Clarkson's journey in quality online education. Details of Clarkson’s online experience are included in this video which will be featured as part of the awards celebration at QM Connect Conference, the theme of which is “Expanding Possibilities.”

The conference took place at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona, November 6 to 9, 2022. Blauvelt was joined by other national leaders in quality online education at the conference to receive their awards.
