WADDINGTON – The Waddington Hepburn Library will host an open house and dedication of the new reading area from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3.
The event will be an opportunity to showcase a number of improvements, additions and updates made over the past three years to both the building and services the library provides.
The official dedication of the Mildred Haggett Reading Area will also take place during the open house.
In 2010, (Nina) Mildred Carr Haggett, a local teacher who had graduated from Waddington High School and Potsdam Normal School,, left a significant bequest to the library. Her family also donated memorabilia collected throughout her life.
A display and reading area have been set up in the library to honor Haggett and the history of Waddington she preserved.
