WADDINGTON -- The Gallery at Lake Saint Lawrence Arts is moving forward with the “Spring Into Art” juried art exhibition and sale. Featured in this show are pieces from local artists. Included are paintings, mixed media, metal sculpture, photography, and jewelry. This show is the first of its kind in the Waddington area and hopes to encourage local artists to begin showing their art, whether or not they have done so previously.

The Gallery is dressed in newly painted walls. We are excited with our new image and look forward to hanging this show. Our hope is that this show will bring everyone visual pleasure and emotional joy in today’s ever-changing world.

Due to the Coronavirus, we will not have an opening reception. We very much want the artists’ family and friends to see their pieces in the show, but will only be able to allow 6 people in each of the two gallery rooms at one time. The show will open on Friday, Sept. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Gallery is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We can arrange for family and friends to visit during those days. We can also arrange for them to visit during days we are not open. Please feel free to call for a reservation. We are suggesting that family and friends from your “bubble” attend together. All visitors must be masked.

The show will close on Friday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend the show to see The Gallery and to talk with members about opportunities available to become involved in the exciting events taking place year-round. Waddington is a small vibrant community that is centrally located to Massena, Canton, Potsdam and Ogdensburg. For artists in the North Country, The Gallery at Lake Saint Lawrence Arts provides a venue to exhibit and sell their work. Below are several options for artists to become involved:

Artisan Core Member – Become a core member and for $75/month enjoy exhibiting and selling your art in a gallery setting; exhibiting in a one-person show in our middle gallery; presenting classes in a designated classroom and participating in a dynamic artist community. The artist receives 70% of all sales and The Gallery receives 30%.

Artisan Show – As an artist, schedule a show in our middle gallery. The cost is $75.00 for a 6-week period. The Gallery will help hang and promote your show through advertising in local newspapers, radio, and mailing lists. The Gallery will also put on a reception for the opening of the show. For all sales of items in the show the artist will receive 70% of the sales price and The Gallery will receive 30%.

Instructor – As an instructor, you can present classes in the Gallery classroom. The Gallery will advertise your class and help set up if needed. Please contact Tanya Spicer at 315-705-1241 and/or Bonnie Grant at 315-705-5198 to discuss your class idea and provide samples of your work. The artist receives 70% of the fee for classes/lectures and The Gallery receives 30%.

Monthly Artisan – A monthly artisan would rent a 4-foot display space in The Gallery to exhibit and sell their work. The fee is $75.00/month for every month the space is used. The artist has the option of presenting classes and shows during the rental period. The 4-foot space will be determined between the artist and The Gallery. For the sale of items/classes the artist will receive 70% of the sale and The Gallery will receive 30%.

Artists are encouraged to visit The Gallery Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to check out space and meet Gallery staff. Our address is 10 Main Street, Waddington, and our mailing address is PO Box 624, Waddington 13694.
