SUNY Canton offers graduates career counseling and resume assistance

CANTON -- Graduates from any year can now receive free career counseling and resume assistance from SUNY Canton's Career Services office.

Parkman and her staff decided to expand services to help those who are seeking new career opportunities for alumni of all ages -- from recent graduates looking to start their first post-college job, to those who have retired and are looking to re-enter the workforce.

The team of career professionals said consultations usually take about an hour and are conducted safely and virtually using Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. The digital platforms were a driving factor in extending services because job seekers no longer have to be on campus to attend in-person sessions.

Extended resume-building services were announced in preparation for the college's series of virtual spring career fairs, which will be held throughout the semester. The college anticipates that nearly 100 employers will recruit during the following meetups:

A fair designed specifically for students and graduates of the Canino School of Engineering Technology will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23.

A fair for Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Health and Fitness Promotion, Health Care Management, and Applied Psychology students and graduates will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 11.

A general recruiting fair open to employers seeking students or graduates from the entire college will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. April 15.
