CANTON -- Leaders of the local Black Lives Matter movement are organizing another rally on behalf of Treyanna Summerville, a Gouverneur woman who was allegedly murdered on June 22.
The event called "Protect The Children: Rally At DSS - Organized by BLM and Community Foster Parents," will be held Wednesday, July 1 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. outside of the Department of Social Services building in Canton.
The case is still under investigation, but a 13-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the case.
"We will be rallying outside the Department of Social Services because they failed at protecting Treyanna Summerville," organizers said on their Facebook page.
The event post cites a recent local television media report that claims that Gouverneur police responded to numerous calls and complaints of domestic issues over the last 7 years at the home of Sommerville.
