OGDENSBURG — Pro Musica, a local community chorus in Ogdensburg, will meet Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. to begin preparing for their annual Christmas concert presented in early December 2023.
New members are always welcome.
Pro Musica has been presenting concerts at the First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Franklin and Ford Streets in Ogdensburg for many years. Composed of members of various ages, Pro Musica performs and presents an eclectic list of Christmas songs that will appeal to both the young and the old.
This year’s director will once again be Diana Sarsfield, a graduate of the Crane School of Music; she is also the vocal music teacher at Lisbon Central School.
The chorus will be accompanied again by Jeffrey Hinkle, who studied music composition and piano at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington; he is also an accompanist for vocal music students at the Crane School Music.
Hinkle has been employed as the choir director and accompanist for the Canton United Methodist Church for the last four years.
Dues of $15 will help to defray the cost of purchasing materials for Pro Musica; the monies will also be used to provide music scholarships to area high schools for deserving students.
