Pro Musica begins practice Sept. 7 in Ogdensburg for Christmas concert

Posted

OGDENSBURG — Pro Musica, a local community chorus in Ogdensburg, will be meeting for the first time this semester on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.

The musical group will be preparing for their annual Christmas concert to be presented sometime in early December 2022.

Everyone is encouraged to join this musical staple in the North Country.

Pro Musica has been presenting concerts at the First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Franklin and Ford Streets in Ogdensburg for many years. Composed of members of various ages, Pro Musica looks forward to performing and presenting an eclectic list of Christmas songs that will appeal to both the young and the old.

This year’s director will once again be Diana McEntee, a graduate of the Crane School of Music; she is also the vocal music teacher at Lisbon Central School. The chorus will be accompanied again by Jeffrey Hinkle, who studied music composition and piano at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington; he is also an accompanist for vocal music students at the Crane School Music. Jeffrey has been employed as the choir director and accompanist for the Canton United Methodist Church for the last three years.

Vaccination is required to sing with Pro Musica.

Dues of $15 will help to defray the cost of purchasing materials for Pro Musica; the monies will also be used to provide music scholarships to area high schools for deserving students.

If you have questions or need further information, please contact Viviane Roach at (315)869-6123 or contact Pro Musica at ogdpromusica@gmail.com.
