POTSDAM -- North Country Aikido will offer an Introduction to Aikido Workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21.
The workshop is open to all adults interested in learning about this non-aggressive martial art. Traditional aikido is a non-violent martial art that employs circular and spiral motion in harmony with natural body movements.
The workshop includes hands-on participation, demonstration, and description of aikido philosophy. No experience is necessary. The workshop fee is $5. Observers are also welcome.
The workshop will be in the Clarkson University Fitness Center on the Hill campus.
Regular classes are on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday is beginners class, but beginners are welcome to all classes. Friday is weapons; for the spring semester, it will be bokken (wooden sword). For questions, contact Leslie Russek at Lnrussek@clarkson.edu or 268-3761.
