CANTON — A new downtown tradition continues in Canton, every Thursday in September. Street music hosted by individual businesses can be enjoyed along Main Street from 5-6 p.m. with some starting earlier and staying later.

"This new pop-up event started last September when we wanted to invite people downtown in a safe and fun way. We lucked out this year because there are five Thursdays in September", noted Brooke Rouse, owner of Grasse River Outfitters located at 45 Main St. "Several of us have been trying to drum up some fun and welcome folks downtown to show off the variety of businesses we have, still standing strong after a tough year and half."

The lineup for Thursday, Sept. 15 includes Mike Brewster at Little Italy Canton (5:30-6:30 p.m. at 107 Main St.), Richard Hayes-Phillips inside at The Pear Tree (4:30-5:30 at 77 Main St.), Johnny P and the Jazz Machine at Nature's Storehouse (5-6 p.m. at 21 Main St.), and Warren "Big Pappa" Harman at Nola's General Store (5-7 p.m. at 11 Main St.).

People attending Music on Main can park along Main Street or in the public Lot behind Nature's Storehouse or Grasse River Outfitters. The village provides additional tables on the street to make outdoor dining easy and enjoyable.

The businesses welcome browsing and encourage people to make stops along the way to listen, order food and check out a business they may not have been to before.
