NORWOOD — Students at Norwood-Norfolk Central School will present “Little Shop of Horrors.”

The story is of Seymour Krelborn, (played by Sophomore Matthew Frost) a poor young man and orphan, living a life of poverty and boredom working at a floral shop owned by the cranky and greedy Mr. Mushnik (portrayed by Asher Cragg), in downtown urban Skid Row.

Performances are March 9 at 7 p.m. and two shows on Saturday, March 10 at 1 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adult and $8 for student and can be purchased at the NNCS high school office or at http://tinyurl.com/nncs2018.

During an eclipse of the sun, Seymour stumbles upon a "strange and interesting plant" brings it to the flower shop and in hopes of impressing his crush names it AudreyII after his blonde and ditzy coworker Audrey (played by Junior Anneke Chudzinski).

As the story unfolds we discover the plants unquenchable thirst for human blood and the bigger AudreyII gets (voice by Ethan King and puppet controlled by Jaron Belmore) the carnivorous plants offers the meek Seymour all the fame, fortune and love he could ever want. By the time Seymour realizes the plants extra-terrestrial origins and plans for total world conquest could it be too late?

Based on the original low budget film in 1960, Little Shop of Horrors is mostly recognized for its 1986 film adaptation starring Rick Moranis and the sadistic dentist played by Steve Martin who is portrayed in our production by senior Riley Haas.

Other cast includes Doo-wop girl group lead by Kaelee Salacka, Erin Dickinson and Kassy McGinnis and supported by Kiera Fetter, Isabelle Phippen, Hannah Tharret, Emily Jarvis, Olivia Reiter and Makenna King. There is an ensemble of 30 other dedicated and hard working students.

This is Matt Sharlow's fifth year on crew along with Dylan Clark's fifth year on stage crew and as lead builder. Alaina Elliot and Hailyn Coller have worked behind the scenes moving and building sets.
