OGDENSBURG – The women reenactors who are part of Founders Day activities at Fort la Presentation will walk Saturday, July 23 from the fort to the Ogdensburg GreenMarket dressed in their period attire to shop in an open air market much as was done in the early 1800s.
They will find more of the season’s wonderful blueberries, the first sugar snap peas, kale, garlic scapes, radishes, carrots, Swiss chard and broccoli rabe, greens and romaine lettuce, salad mix, green onions, zucchini, summer squash, new potatoes and parsley are plentiful.
Fresh baked breads, pies, cookies, whoopee pies and granola are a big hit.
For the dog lovers, Jane Wright donated her recipe for dog treats to Joe Metz & Sean Fay who bake and bring them to market every week.
Bea Murdock has a large variety of thriving perennials ready for transplant for years of enjoyment.
The market offers handcrafted jewelry, photography, art, specialty hula hoops, wines, fresh eggs, farm fresh meats, and much more.
Visit the market Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Library Park.
WIC, food stamps and Senior Coupons are gladly accepted.
If you would like to become a vendor at the market, call the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, market sponsor and ask for Sandy Porter at 393-3620.
