POTSDAM -- The Crane School of Music will be facilitating small group “General” Music Classes (ages 6-13) and Vocal Ensembles (Ages 6-18). All classes are free of charge.

General Music Classes will be organized by age in small groups, designed to fit the unique interests and needs of participants and might consist of composing, creating, singing, playing instruments, listening, analyzing, movement, and a variety of other activities.

In Person

Tuesdays 9:30-10:45am

Thursdays 5:00-6:15pm

Vocal Ensembles will focus more specifically on singing in groups but will also incorporate a variety of musical engagements in a larger ensemble setting.

In Person and Online : Fridays 4:15-5:15pm

All classes will begin the week of Sept. 27 and will run weekly until Thanksgiving break. Participation is granted on a first come, first serve basis. Space is limited due to covid protocol. Read the current SUNY Potsdam/ Crane Music COVID policies below for children on campus carefully.

For children who come to campus to participate in an individualized academic activity (e.g., tutoring, lessons, reading assessment), masks must be worn at all times.  SUNY Potsdam students, faculty, and/or staff working directly with the children must be vaccinated and will also be masked, regardless of campus policy (i.e., if the current indoor mask mandate is lifted on campus, those working with children indoors will still be required to wear appropriate face coverings for the entirety of the Fall 2021 semester). The children are only to access the spaces on campus directly related to their lessons/tutoring. Adults who bring the children to campus must wear a mask at all times indoors. If the visiting adult remains inside, they must first show proof of full vaccination and/or a negative COVID test (within the past three days). If the visiting adult and/or the child has any symptoms, they should not come to campus. Attendance must be kept during all of these activities.  This policy will be continuously reviewed and adjusted as needed based on updated guidance from federal, state, and/or county health agencies. *guidelines are subject to change at any time and in-person classes may be required to move online.

Email the Crane Faculty Advisor, Dr. Andrea Maas (maasa@potsdam.edu) to receive a registration link and additional information. Use “Community Music Classes” in the subject line and specify if you would like registration links for General Music, Vocal Music or both.
