POTSDAM -- The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam will hold an academic forum featuring Dr. Terry Paynter, speaking about "Form and Process and Morton Feldman's 'Spring of Chosroes" at 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 11 in Ralph Wakefield Recital Hall at Crane. "
Spring of Chosroes" is the name of a legendary Persian garden carpet that was created for the 6th century Sassanian king, Chosroes I. Composer Morton Feldman was inspired by this carpet and the garden it evoked, and worked to mirror the design of the intricate rug in his instrumental work for violin and piano of the same name.
The event is free and open to the public.
